I have a Masters degree in Art Psychotherapy and a Masters degree in Fine Art. \u00a0I undertake regular Continual Professional Development (CPD) to keep my clinical practice up-to-date and relevant for the people I work with. \u00a0This also helps me to enhance my knowledge around my areas of special interest.<\/p>\n

About Jess<\/span><\/h2>\n

I am an independent Art Psychotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council<\/a> (HCPC) and the British Association Of Art Therapists<\/a> (BAAT). \u00a0I also work as an artist and curator in community settings, teach in higher education, and am a director of The Homeland Project<\/a> (CIC).<\/p>\n

I currently manage the Art Psychotherapy provision at Raphael Centre<\/a>, a supported living centre for adults with Learning Disabilities, and have a small private practice. \u00a0I project manage several creative health programmes across Bristol and North Somerset through the region’s Social Prescribing<\/a> service, working alongside community-based organisations including creativeShift<\/a>, the Bristol Folk House<\/a> and Southmead Development Trust<\/a>, working to improve outcomes of vulnerable children, young people and adults.<\/p>\n

I work at the intersections of the Art Therapy profession and the Arts in Health sector, helping to design, develop and deliver services, collaborating with service users and consulting with organisations including the NHS. \u00a0You can read more about this here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With an interest in furthering a greater understanding of the therapeutic arts and better access to a fair creative health care system, I am invited to advise, write about, and present on the subject. I am a visiting lecturer at the University of South Wales and the University of the West of England, and have have received grants for my research. \u00a0I specialise in working with clay and working outdoors.<\/p>\n

In 2024, I cofounded ‘Common Ground’<\/a>, a Jewish-Muslim dialogue group to share meaningful conversations.<\/p>\n

\nMy Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have worked creatively and holistically with adults, families, children, and young people in a variety of settings for over 25 years. \u00a0These include in-patient NHS mental health care settings, perinatal and maternal health care, community settings, galleries and museums, outdoors, and in mainstream and special education.<\/p>\n
